Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a full-time Administrative Faculty position as the Assistant Coordinator, Early Childhood Assessment for the Clark County Extension in Las Vegas, Nevada. *This position is grant-funded and contingent upon funding. The Assistant Coordinator, Early Childhood Assessments is responsible for evaluating programs related to early childhood education, including programming and participating in the Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) under the direction of the Extension Professor/Specialist in Early Childhood Education. The Assistant Coordinator is responsible for teaching child care provider trainings to multiple groups during the year. The Assistant Coordinator conducts observations of early childhood classrooms using different assessments in both southern and northern Nevada. The Assistant Coordinator must obtain and maintain reliability on the assigned assessments which include the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale - 3rd edition and Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale - 3rd edition. The Assistant Coordinator will serve as a resource and liaison between Extension and community early childhood programs. The Assistant Coordinator will design professional learning experiences that meet early childhood and QRIS best practices. The Assistant Coordinator will utilize interactive teaching techniques and evidence-based practices. The position will facilitate positive working relationships with community organizations and child care centers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience

Related Experience: early childhood education to include classroom teaching and administration and experience in adult education or experience conducting assessments in early childhood classrooms.

Certification and Licensure

Successful fingerprinting and background check.

Must have a valid Nevada State driver's license or the ability to obtain one within one month.

If not currently certified, the following must be completed within 30 days of employment:
  • Nevada Registry General Early Childhood Education Approved Trainer (certificate)


If not currently certified, the following must be completed within 90 days of employment:
  • Certified Reliable Assessor in the following two (2) key assessments:
  • Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale - 3 (E-3) (85% or higher)
  • Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale - 3 (I-3) (85% or higher)


When appointed, this assessment must be completed within 90 days of assignment:
  • Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale - 3 (FCCRS-3) (85% or higher)


Schedule and Travel Requirements

This position has a variable work schedule based on program needs. Travel to community locations for teaching, communicating information, and assessing classrooms.
