The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training. Position Summary:
The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to teach in the Early Childhood Education teacher preparation program. MSU Denver, a Hispanic Serving Institution, is located on a commuter campus in the heart of Denver, Colorado. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have intention to activate principles of equity and inclusion and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have the ability to perform the following:

Teach 12 semester hours of day and/or evening courses in undergraduate Early Childhood Education (birth to age 8) within the MSU Denver teacher preparation program, primarily focused on Early Literacy
Collaborate effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach ECE courses
Effectively advise undergraduate students five scheduled hours per week
Demonstrate the experience and commitment to meet the educational needs of students from diverse student populations including traditional, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Latinx, adult, military, second career, second chance, concurrent high school/college students, and students with mental health, learning, or physical differences
Identify placements and supervise clinical experiences and/or student teachers
Develop positive reciprocal relationships with schools and agencies in the community, in order to actively support the success of effective early childhood teachers
Demonstrate commitment to teaching and advising, while maintaining a scholarly research agenda, professional development, and commitment to ongoing service to the School of Education, University, and professional community


Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Early Literacy Education, or related field, or ABD (all but dissertation) is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Early Childhood Education or related field. If in a related field, prior degree(s) in ECE.
Minimum of three years professional teaching experience birth-3rd beyond educational degree programs.
Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and supporting students from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds including traditional, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Latinx, adult, military, second career, second chance, concurrent high school/ college students, and students with mental health, learning, or physical differences.
Professional experience working with children, families, and communities in a variety of early childhood settings.
Deep understanding and experience teaching Early Literacy, Sociocultural Literacy, Science of Reading, & English Language Learners in Pk-3rd classrooms and/or at the college level.
Willingness to collaborate in partnerships with preschools, K-6 schools and early childhood agencies.
Demonstrated sensitivity to issues in the field of early childhood education.
Ability to work effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach ECE courses that will actively support the success of effective early childhood teachers.
