Under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator or designee, guides the growth and development of children to their potential, in a positive manner.

  • Under the guidance of the teacher, assists in the daily development of the program.
  • Reinforce what has been set forth by the State Preschool Program.
  • Cooperates with the teacher in the following ways.

    • Mutual planning for children's daily development of the program.
    • Daily observations of enrolled children.
    • Daily evaluation of program in the interest of teaching and working relationships.

  • Assumes responsibility for children enrolled in a class as it relates to the following;

    • Safety
    • Health
    • Nutrition
    • Development Records
    • Confidentiality

  • Participates in parent, volunteer and community activities as they affect the children.
  • Attends pre-service and in-service seminars and sessions.
  • Shares responsibility for maintaining a nurturing environment for the children.
  • Shares responsibility for program-related record keeping.
  • Shares responsibility for conducting home visits.

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must be enrolled or have completed 6 Semester units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education. Must take and pass the District's Proficiency Test. Must have paid or volunteer experience in a Preschool setting

Must be a team player. Must be flexible; must be nurturing and caring to children; must be open to constructive criticism; must be open to learning new ways of working with children; must interact with children in a positive way; must be willing to upgrade one's education; must maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff and parents.

Must meet State health requirements: Current physical examination and verification of TB Clearance.

Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations.
