Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation's capital, seeks a visionary leader for Early Childhood Education programs. The Program Chair is responsible for overseeing the undergraduate and graduate Early Childhood Education (ECE) Programs in several academic units. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Education. The Chair position is a tenure-track faculty member starting at the rank of assistant professor. The position is full-time for twelve months and includes administrative duties as well as teaching responsibilities.

Using a data-informed approach, the Chair will provide innovative leadership in program development, enrollment and retention, and all aspects of the curriculum, including revisions to existing coursework along with the development of new courses and concentrations for ECE majors. Programs must align with CAEP accreditation standards and satisfy requirements for early childhood educators in the District of Columbia. The Chair also conducts assessments aligned with CAEP standards, hires and supervises adjunct faculty, coordinates clinical placements with area school and agency partners, works closely with OSSE (the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education) to satisfy D.C. requirements and manage related grants, and with other funding partners, including the National Black Child Development Institute that administers TEACH grants for students in early childhood programs.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in education, preferably in early childhood education, along with collegiate teaching experience. Experience as an early childhood educator in public or private schools or other settings is preferable, along with experience as an administrator in a school, agency or at the collegiate level. Candidates must provide evidence of proficient skills in writing and oral communication, organizational abilities, and the ability to manage personnel. Candidates must be able to work a full schedule with flexibility for courses and activities that might occur on evenings or weekends.

Enrolling more than 1800 students in all programs, most of whom are residents of the metropolitan Washington region, Trinity is a leading partner with the District of Columbia and Prince Georges County in Maryland for the education of teachers, principals, counselors, other school personnel and human services leaders.

Trinity is dedicated to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its students, faculty and staff. Trinity is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community and strongly encourages all qualified individuals to apply.
