Associate Director of Early Childhood Educations Initiatives

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Workforce Instruction, the Associate Director of Early Childhood Education (ECE) Initiatives will be responsible for leading grant and community-based projects in support of ECE programs at North Seattle College. The Associate Director position is responsible for collaborating with campus and district workgroups, industry and local/state government members to advance ECE pathways and strengthen program outcomes for students.

The Associate Director is responsible for overseeing equity-minded, student-focused services for ECE pathways, including managing multiple grant projects and budgets, tracking data, and supporting retention and completion initiatives. The Associate Director is the first point of contact for college departments and faculty, and oversees outreach and communication for North Seattle College and any satellite programs. This position would provide leadership over the following projects: Bainum Family Foundation Grant, Boeing Grant with Childcare Aware, Academy for Rising Educators, My Brother's Teacher, Imagine Institute Cohorts, and the implementation of ECE AAS courses at Central and South campuses (North's classes) as well as offsite language immersion cohorts at various locations.

This position supervises the ECE AAS Program Manager as well as hourly staff.

Essential Functions
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages projects and oversees non-instructional activities within the department
  • Manages team to ensure that project deliverables are being met
  • Acting liaison to all campus departments
  • Coordinate and develop marketing plan and materials with NSC Marketing Department
  • Work with Grants Office to pursue, implement, and report on grants
  • Work closely with registration, financial aid, credentials and cashier's office to support students
  • Collaborate with faculty around class equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Work with faculty and ECE staff to monitor student success and progress
  • Manage practicum program oversight & development
  • Program Development and Growth: Work with ECE team and nonprofit/industry/government/higher ed organizations, increase student enrollment and supports, contribute to accreditation report, plan for additional cohorts, etc.
  • Work collaboratively across the district and lead (if directed) projects and initiatives in support of student success.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee and guide the implementation of ECE AAS courses at Central and South campuses (North's classes) as well as offsite language immersion cohorts at various locations.
  • Develop partnerships to establish additional offsite language immersion cohorts at various locations.
  • In collaboration with the Grants Office and Dean of Workforce Instruction, pursue continued and new funding that supports the ECE program services
  • Coordinate cross-institution activities such as workshops, presentations, college visits, guest speakers, and special event programing to support program participants.
EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS
  • Develop program partnerships with community-based organizations, ECE leaders, and potential grantors
  • Maintain active professional association memberships for the program
  • Conduct outreach to new/potential employer partners
  • Represent the college at local association meetings/conferences
  • Coordinate student volunteers for various community events
  • Coordinate Technical Advisory Committee meetings with ECE team/TAC chair, attend department meetings
  • Coordinate with Opportunity Center for Employment and Education (OCE&E)
  • Participate in District, State, and National work groups to collaborate, share best practices, and improve pathways outcomes

SUPERVISION
  • Oversees full time and part time employees


Required Education, Experience, Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as education, social work, public administration, etc.) or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience as lead support of a program or projects
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program administration, supervision, and budget development.
  • Demonstrated successful experience collaborating with campus departments to implement student centered programs, events, or activities.
  • Demonstrated strong grant writing experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and undertaking social justice initiatives
  • Documented skill with Microsoft Word and Excel, or equivalent.
  • Experience working on a successful team project
  • Experience with leading a project from concept to implementation
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
